Jujube leaf, also known in Arabic as "sidr leaf", is derived from the jujube tree. It is frequently used in traditional remedies in Asia to treat various ailments, as it has antibacterial, healing and anti-diabetic properties.

The characteristics of jujube leaves

Jujube leaves (sidr) are, like nigella seeds, very rich in vitamins. They are also rich in trace elements. These include zinc, iron, magnesium and potassium. Also, these jujube leaves consist of flavonoids, saponosides, glucosides and alkaloids which are compounds known for their antioxidant properties.

Benefits Presented by Jujube Leaves

Similar to nigella seed, sidr leaf powder has powerful antioxidants and organic compounds. Its benefits on your health are therefore considerable. Among other things, the jujube leaf can be used for :

  • relieve your heartburn,
  • take care of your hair when it is infused or turned into powder,
  • improve your digestion by increasing the production of your gastric juice,
  • reduce your inflammation with their high antioxidant content,
  • regulate blood sugar levels by increasing insulin tolerance,

In addition, the saponins and alkaloids contained in sidr leaves help the blood in its purification function. This helps in the elimination of harmful toxins present in the body systems.

How are jujube leaves used

In the field of cosmetics such as well-being, sidr leaves are very effective and can be used in many ways.

For hair care

According to the opinion of some people, jujube leaves can be used to strengthen hair and improve hair growth. Thanks to their high potassium content, they facilitate deep cleansing of the hair. Keep in mind that these sidr leaves are also excellent for combating baldness and flaking in the hair. To use them for your hair care, you can boil them in water, let them cool and then use the infusion as a rinse.

For skin treatment

Sidr leaf powder has anti-inflammatory properties that fight skin infections. To use it as a body treatment, you can mix this powder with water to make a paste. You will then pass this paste over your skin to remove boils, pimples, abscesses and acnes. Also note that the oil from these sidr leaves acts similarly to black cumin oil when it comes to protecting the skin.

To remedy intestinal inflammation and toothache

Besides having the same anti-inflammatory properties as nigella, jujube leaves also have healing properties. According to the opinion of people suffering from intestinal disorders, these can reduce inflammation and relieve ulcers in the intestinal tract. You can therefore use the dried sidr leaves to make an infusion to treat gastrointestinal problems. Additionally, jujube leaf powder can also be used to relieve dental pain due to its pain-relieving properties. You can relieve your pain by mixing the powder with water to make a thick paste that you put on the tooth.

Finally, jujube leaves can be used for Roqya which consists in repelling the evil eye as well as witchcraft. It is advisable to use it in the following way: perform ablution, take 7 leaves, crumble them then mix them in water then recite the Koran and blow 3 times at the end. Finally pass the water on the body from time to time especially in times of low morale and also do not hesitate to sprinkle the corners of the house.
